PROJECTS & PROGRAMS
Herbalista
Model of Care
Since 2013, Herbalista has been creating community-based herbal projects that are rooted in mutual aid and inspired by plant wisdom. From mobile clinics to community education, ours is a sustainable, affordable and accessible model of care and we are thrilled to share it with you.
Looking for personalized guidance? See our Project Consulation Section below.
Herbalista recognizes healthcare as a fundamental human right. We sponsor free health services and herbal education through a variety of community-care programming. Over the years we have crafted projects that bring together herban agriculture, medicine making and free clinics in a way that uplifts our whole community. Although originally created in Atlanta, our method has successfully served as a model in many other cities and towns around the world.
There are so many ways to share herbs with your community, no matter your skill level. For the beginner, try your hand at HerbCare Packages or an HerbCare Station. And for the more advanced, check out our mobile clinics – the Herb Bus, Herb Bike and Herb Cart.
Community Medicine Making, the Grow a Row Project, and other initiatives not only keep the apothecary stocked and the mobile clinics rolling, but they build local herbal infrastructure and create greater community resilience.

What is “Sliding Scale“
A sliding scale rate system acknowledges that folks have different means in this world. Instead of a one size fits all approach, we hope that by offering a wide range of options we keep these consultations open as much as possible to members of the community.
Please choose anywhere you feel comfortable on the scale for our initial consultation. Folks with not many coins to scratch together, please go low. A lot of coins to scratch together, go high. In the middle – choose there. No “proof” of income level necessary.
Our Rates
Our rates are offered along a sliding scale from $50 – $125 per hour for phone or Zoom appointments. The rate is similar for editing assistance on written materials (service plans, clinical forms, dispensary forms, etc.)
For folks where this still feels like too much, please join us as a sustaining member (only $5 per month) for access to our monthly Study Session on Zoom. Lorna is there every month to answer any questions folks might have.
The Study Session is held on the first Wednesday of each month at 12pm EST and is a place to connect with folks doing community herbalism around the world, on the streets, and in the fields. The link is in members’ online Toolkit.
