Certification Track now Open!
For folks looking to formalize their work at the Free School, we are excited to announce that a new, optional Certification Track for our online Herbal Foundations Course has officially begun!
This is an optional track that we hope helps people realize a sound start to their journey as community herbalists. We have worked hard to craft a meaningful track that both solidifies your foundational knowledge ANDencourages hands-on engagement with the plants and your community through the Herbwork Portfolio. Here are all the details.
Certificate Track Basic Requirements
- Pass the Cumulative Foundations Quiz
- Submit a Portfolio of Herbwork

🌿 Think of this as a check-in with yourself to see what you’ve comprehended and to celebrate how far you’ve come.
- Paced for your journey:Opens 60 days after you enroll to ensure you have ample, stress-free time to dive into the course material first.
- Once unlocked, this open-book quiz is available whenever you finish working through the lessons. No expiration, no rush.
- Scoring:Â a minimum of 70%
Herbwork Portfolio
🌿 True community herbalism is grounded in real-life practice. Your portfolio is a curated collection of the Herbwork you have engaged in throughout the course.
- Portfolio Submission Portal is open from July 15th through September 15th.
- Develop and share your unique perspective as a community herbalist. We are grading on engagement and reflection, not perfection.
- Scoring: Complete/Incomplete
